Existential crisis? Check. The sudden urge to join a runner’s club? Done. Looking back at my twenties and regretting my life choices? Not a chance. My past is what brought me here, and as I step into my glorious 30s, I can confidently say I wouldn’t wish for another life. But if we’re talking about a few habits I wish I would’ve broken or developed a long time ago, that’s a whole other story.

Adulthood isn’t easy. But after spending over thirty years on this planet, I consider myself seasoned enough to throw some knowledge and advice at you. I’m no life coach. But I don’t need a certificate in “whatever it is life coaches graduate from” to share my thoughts on how you can start the 3rd decade of your life with ease.

3 habits to pursue before you’re 30

Since my twenties, my thoughts on relationships, the pursuit of higher education, along with my career goals, have drastically shifted. And at this very moment, you might be at that very same stage I was many years ago. Time passes by, and before you fully realize it, life can get in the way of the goals you’ve set for your future. Unexpected financial burdens or a health crisis (whether mentally or physically) will force you to take things slow.

With a strong mindset and some adjustments in your daily rituals, you can prepare yourself for any temporary life setbacks. Remember this: When things go south, rise above. And don’t forget to apply my helpful tips to prepare for as many problems as possible.

A sound body means a
sound mind
The “Gym-Life” posts on Instagram and the videos of fully toned content creators only show the surface of what a "fit-life" looks like. It’s not just about watching your calorie intake and sticking to a regular workout schedule. Dedicating yourself to healthy habits does something for your mind, body, and soul. Not to mention, this new habit will help boost your confidence.

As I try to become my best self, I also want to feel like the best version of myself. With small steps that work for your daily schedule, you can gradually incorporate a regular workout routine. Start with 20 minutes a day, and soon you’ll see where the motivation to do more will take you.
You can only know so much – but try to learn more
So you've bagged your undergrad? Congrats! But don’t let the academic validation we strive for in today’s society stop you from obtaining more knowledge. It doesn't just end with a degree or certificate. Learning more about the things that interest you from a traditional POV will always prove to be valuable.

And I’m talking about taking IT classes, applying for a sewing course, or learning the art of whickering. Beyond the classroom and lecture halls, there’s so much more knowledge for you to acquire.
Trust is earned, not given
Ever heard of a trustfall? It works as a game, but also as a means for singling out the ones that are worth falling for. We already know that scholastic lessons don’t end after graduation, and unfortunately neither does catty lunchroom behavior.

It’s not a pretty truth, but even longstanding friendships can turn sour over time for the most immature reasons. If your gut is telling you a friendship or partnership isn’t working, you better listen. Your intuition can save you from wasting all your time and energy on someone who wouldn’t do the same for you.

As I reflect on the years that have passed, I can’t help but laugh at my younger self. Once put into perspective, the things I was worried about weren’t all that bad. But one thing is for sure: I am fortunate to have experienced growth since then. Let’s see what seasoned advice I’ll have up my sleeve in the next 20 years.
